In the State of Illinois, USA, residents can now gamble online again! Recently video poker games were also made legal throughout the State prior to the new gambling bill being passed. The lawmakers of Illinois thought it was about time to bring back online gambling after many years of it being banned. So you now you can gamble online at home in comfort without needing to travel to place a bet.

In Illinois State, majority of the lawmakers passed the new gambling laws (87 in favor to 27 not in favor), but they also vetoed a proposal to expand the existing land based casinos. The State legislators don’t know how this new legislation for their State will be affected by the UIGEA Federal ban. North Dakota and New Hampshire had problems from the Federal law with regard to their online lotteries, which are legal in those States.

So now in Illinois you can bet on the horse races through online betting sites, play video poker online through online casinos in US, and have some fun while making some money at home. The main reason for passing this new gambling bill is so that the State will get big tax revenues from the online gambling operators, especially from betting on horse races online.

So what happens next… which other States will follow Illinois and make online gambling legal again after being illegal gambling for years? I personally think that by the end of this year, 2009, almost all States in America will legalize online gambling again. The country needs the revenue from the gambling industry to try and help out the falling economy. It has to happen… it will happen.
